Complex systems,
made human.
I turn high-stakes, emotional problems into experiences people trust, from national public-health platforms to AI-enabled care. Now leading design teams that ship.
What changed on teams I led
Four results, in plain terms: what moved, where, and why it mattered.
Selected case studies
The problem, my role, the decisions I made and how I made them, and the outcome.
Optimizing care delivery with AI
A 50-page recovery handbook became one plain-language conversation, with a clear path to clinicians.

Self-serve onboarding & activation
Dense genomic-cloud workflows, rebuilt as a self-serve console in 20 days.

Unifying a fragmented product journey
Five separate city-operations systems, rebuilt as one platform customers learn once.

Don’t take my word for it. Talk to Cora.
A working AI recovery assistant I designed and built in a Maven AI course, inspired by my orthopedic patient-app work. It uses no employer data or designs. No sign-up, nothing to install. Try one of these:
Open the live prototypeEvery project is different.
The focus on the user never changes.
I shape every plan around the project’s timeline, budget, resources, constraints and access to users. My 20+ years of experience and MS in HCI guide what fits, whether that’s deep research, a fast prototype or deciding where AI helps. Through all of it, the people using the product stay at the center.
Design for the most vulnerable user.
If a first-time, low-literacy user finishes the task on the first try, everyone else will too.
Let evidence settle debates.
A/B tests and usability sessions turn opinions into decisions Product and Engineering can commit to.
Build what outlasts the launch.
Design systems, rituals and research frameworks keep quality high after the project team moves on.

A player-coach who stays hands-on.
“Technology should adapt to people, not the other way around.”
My UX origin story began in college, training shoppers on brand-new self-checkout machines. Today I lead designers while staying hands-on, making complex technology work for people.
What colleagues say
“Casey's redesign is a major game changer that will allow us to renew and win more contracts!”
genomics platform
Knowledgeable, insightful and incredibly humble … always asking the right questions with genuine curiosity. Casey has my highest recommendation!
former teammate
I would recommend Casey to any team looking for a strong user researcher … Casey wrote a comprehensive report that covered my team's regulatory needs.
former teammate
Highly professional, focused and detail oriented. Despite the challenging deadlines … he never failed to deliver in time.
former teammate
Casey has been a great colleague to work with … found a way to build relationships amongst a dispersed team, not always an easy task.
UnitedHealth Group
You are a true asset to UXDS, always there to offer assistance, and truly a team player.

A little personality
I travel to distant places to see how other people live, learn and solve everyday problems. It’s the same curiosity I bring to research and design. Kayaking under Château de Chenonceau, a castle built in 1514 that I first drew in grade school, was a dream come true.
